Simply put, Grace is defined as
God's "unmerited favor".
(Ephesians 2:8,9) "For by grace are you saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God; not of works, lest any man should boast." This simply means, you can not save yourself from sin's penalty; only faith in God's solution (Jesus Christ, who died and rose to life again for you) will save you.

Romans 3:23 "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God" Romans 5:8 "But God showed His love for us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."
John 3:16 "For God so loved the world (sinners), He gave His only born Son (Jesus), so that whosoever believes (trusts) in Him, should not perish (be separated from God for eternity), but HAVE everlasting life (an eternal relationship with the REAL God)."
